Happy New Year to all! Bonne année à tous!

After a very busy Fall, the last two weeks have been a welcome break. We have mostly spent our time socializing, as the season calls for. Loic came home on December 19, and Fatima, who lived with us in 2004-05 came to Whitehorse for a visit with her “adopted” family.

We got into the spirit of Christmas by going caroling with Elizabeth and Perry and their friends in the streets of Riverdale on December 22. This year, a family who expected our visit, opened their garage door to reveal a table of goodies and hot chocolate. We spent Christmas day with our good friends Musials and Avano/Wright, as well as Bob MacKenzie and Muguette Laflamme at Bev and John’s. Once again, the food was a communal effort, and superb. On boxing day, we drove to Atlin to spend two days in the peaceful and pristine landscape surrounding our home there, with Turners and Tima. It was fun to play games for hours on end. In Atlin, we were also able to visit with Urquharts, and Kate and John in their new cabin.

Après un automne très occupé, Terry et moi avons pris quelques jours de congé, pour profiter de la saison des fêtes. Elle a commencé avec l’arrivée de Loïc le 19. Nous avons aussi le plaisir d’avoir revu Fatima, qui a habité avec nous en 2004-05 et qui est en visite avec sa famille d’accueuil pour quelques jours.

Nous nous sommes mis dans l’esprit des fêtes avec d’abord la soirée annuelle chez .a famille de Perry et Elizabeth, ou nous allons de portes en portes en chantant des cantiques et finissons la soirée chez eux, a manger et chanter. Cette année, a une des maisons qui s’attendait a notre arrivée, la porte de garage s’est ouverte automatiquement, révélant une table de biscuits et chocolat chaud pour tous. Les enfants en avaient la bouche bée. Nous avons passe la soirée de Noël avec nos bons amis les Musials et les Avano-Wright avec aussi Bob MacKenzie et Muguette Laflamme chez John et Bev. Comme toujours, le repas était superbe, un effort communautaire. Le lendemain, nous avons passe 2 jours a nous prélasser a Atlin, avec les Turners et Fatima, pour profiter d’elle ensemble. La bas, nous avons surtout joue, ri, et aussi eu la visite des Urquharts. Nous avons aussi vu Kate Fisher et John dans leur nouvelle cabane.
